Wallace Wade Stadium is a collegiate football stadium on the campus of Duke University in Durham, North Carolina. Wallace Wade Stadium is the home of the Duke Blue Devils football team. Wallace Wade Stadium opened in 1929 with a game against Pittsburgh, it was the first facility at Dukes new campus. The horseshoe shaped stands are elevated six feet above the track and seating capacity for the stadium is 33,941. Originally named Duke Stadium, it was renamed in 1967 to honor the legendary Duke football coach, Wallace Wade. The stadium has the distinction of being the site of the 1942 Rose Bowl game between Duke and Oregon State due to travel restrictions placed after the attack on Pearl Harbor.
