Scott Stadium is a collegiate football stadium situated on the campus of the University of Virginia in Charlottesville. Scott Stadium is the home of the Virginia Cavaliers football team. Scott Stadium was built in 1931 and is the oldest football stadium in Virginia still used today. The stadium has a seating capacity of 61,500 and had a record capacity of nearly 65,000 for the season opener of the 2008 UVA football season. Scott Stadium was built as a replacement for the old Lambeth Field, or Colonnades as it was called. Scott Stadium bears the name of UVA benefactor Frederic Scott. Scott Stadium has one of the most picturesque settings in college football with a wonderful view of the Blue Ridge Mountains in the distance.
