Lane Stadium is a college football stadium located on the campus of Virginia Tech in Blacksburg. Lane Stadium is the home football field of the Virginia Tech Hokies. Lane Stadium opened in 1965 and has a seating capacity of nearly 68,000. The stadium is named after Edward Hudson Lane, a graduate of Virginia Tech. Lane Stadium was voted the number one home field advantage in college football by Rivals. It is also consistently ranked at the top of ESPN's Top 10 Scariest Places To Play. Cadets fire Skipper, the world’s largest game cannon after the national anthem and after every Hokies touchdown at Lane Stadium.
